The town of Empangeni is located in a well populated region of Northern KwaZulu Natal with a bustling CBD area. The aging water infrastructure required substantial pipeline replacement, reconfiguration and infrastructure optimization. The Bulk Supplly pipeline from Magazulu Reservoir also required refurbishment.

The project faced several challenges pertaining to access within a CBD area, however, active risk management was instrumental in ensuring that the project schedule was regularly tracked and maintained. The project was successfully completed in 2019.
