The Forensic Science Building is regarded as one of the most complex and technically sophisticated buildings in South Africa. Various systems were installed under the electrical and mechanical trades to incorporate the clients’ requirements. Due to the usage of the facility, high security measures were implemented inside and outside the building.
On the electrical and security side, the building is equipped with the following equipment:
- 3 598 x light fittings
- 653 x lighting occupation sensors
- 5 482 x socket outlet points on power skirting and walls
- 1 092 x telephone/network points
- 788 x biometric readers
- 611 x surveillance cameras
- 256 x maglocks, 240 x electric strike locks
